Tarrés, municipality of the region of Lleida, has only a hundred inhabitants. The landscape is mainly covered by pinewood
forest, vineyards, almond trees, olive trees and typical crops of the Mediterranean weather.
Tarrés was born in the XII century and combines its beautiful landscapes with a long historical tradition. The elegant and simple neoclassical façade of the Church of La Asunción de María (XVIII century) contrasts with the interior and the belfry, which has a baroque style.
Near the church, we find Cal Magre, with a beautiful façade from the year 1809. Another house to highlight is Comú (XVII century). The hermitage of "Santa Creu", that sometimes welcomes hermits, is located in the outskirts of the village.
Many quarries are conserved, which are not used anymore, but from where most of the stones, used to construct the Monastery of Poblet, were extracted.
The whole town is a strategic place, located at an appropriate height, to be able to have a good view of the landscapes that surround it. Due to the fact of being well communicated, Tarres is a habitual place to spend the summer and ideal, between other options, to ride on mountain bike over the circuit shared with Fulleda.
The municipality is in an area well known by the production of high quality wine. The guests at the house of El Pati de Tarrés would be able to enjoy this wine, the gastronomy of the area and the oil.
