The route of the oil

The route of the Oil passes through lands of olives, almonds, vineyards and pinewoods, and also, through small villages with medieval appearance, characterized by its traditions and monuments.

The itinerary starts at Juneda, where one can walk through the ancient part of the town, between the narrow streets that together form a monumental set.

Following the way between the fruit plantations, one gets to the Thematic Park of the Oil, an interesting museum considered one of the best of Spain, and located in the "Masía Salat". Olive trees of more than 2500 years old welcome the visitors.
The next locality is Les Borges Blanques, known as the "world capital of the oil". In Les Borges Blanques, la Plaza Mayor and el Paseo del Terrall are interesting places, where one can find an oil press of big dimensions.

Next, there is La Floresta; that welcomes visitors with a peculiar castle, near the church of Sant Blai. Then we continue few kilometres to the small town of Els Omellons, where you can find la Casa Llorac and the church.

The route of the oil arrives also to the Espluga Calba, where we recommend visiting the Castle-Palace. During July and August, the visitors can enjoy some of the concerts that are programmed in the fortress.

Fulleda is a small village near Tarrés, which welcomes the excursionist with the monument of Agustina de Aragón, a person that lived in that town.
From Fulleda, following the route of the oil, we have two choices: one can stay at Tarrés, or continue up to the town of Vinaixa, where it is highly recommended to visit the Romanesque church of Sant Joan Evangelista, declared Artistic and Historical Monument.
